How to transport art ?
:
It is one thing to purchase a painting or any piece of artwork from a gallery, and an entirely different thing to bring it back home with you. Any art should always be handled with care – even if it is as uncomplicated as a print.
1. Is your car big enough? Some galleries deliver the pieces right to your doorstep, but if they don’t, then you need to bring a van or a big car.
2. Bring soft blankets or cardboards to protect the artwork during transport.
3. Consider getting transportation insurance if you are bringing home a particularly expensive piece.
4. Will the artwork be shipped to you? If yes, then ask that the gallery be responsible throughout the process. They know the best art transportation services, and are adept at proper packaging procedures

Subject: All about archival framing
The frame can either add to the beauty of a painting or take away from it. That’s why you need to choose your frame carefully. Most galleries will sell you the whole painting including the frame, but in some cases, you may be asked to pay extra for it. You may also be presented with several mounting and material options.
Make sure that the gallery uses archival framing. The mat board material they use should be 100% pure cotton rag, which is acid-free and is able to counteract acids and pollutants. Boards made of wood pulp are inferior to cotton rag mat bards.
If you are buying a print, make sure that a spacer is used in framing to keep the surface of the paper away from the glazing surface. This prevents mildew, molds, and water spots.
The hinges of the best frames are Japanese paper. Rice paste is the preferred adhesive. They should also have paper dustcovers stretched across their backs to keep dust particles and even insects from accessing the painting.

Some helpful facts you should know when you purchase your art work
Subject: Checklist of documentations you need from the art gallery
Did you just buy another artwork? Congratulations – you have grown your collection. But before you hang that painting or display that sculpture, you should first make sure that you have all the documents that prove that you (a) own that artwork and that (b) it is authentic. Having all the proofs needed will make it easier for you to sell that piece in the future, when its value has increased. Here are the documents you should ask from the gallery:
• Bill of Sale
• Letter of Authenticity
• Artist’s Biographical Information
• Artist’s Statement/Information (attach it on the back of the piece)
It would also be great if you could ask the gallery for the following:
• Proof of type of artwork (Is it original? A limited edition? Is it a reproduction))
• Care and Handling Instructions
• Mailing List
